Earthing System Design Record (Excel)

Free download · Excel (.xlsx)

Earthing system design requires documented soil data, calculation results, and test records. This Excel workbook contains three sheets. Sheet 1 (Site Data): soil resistivity measurements using the Wenner four-pin method with automatic average ρ calculation. Sheet 2 (Design Calculation): rod, plate, and grid conductor sizing fields with reference to AS/NZS 3000, BS 7430, and IEEE 80 methodologies. Sheet 3 (Test Records): earth resistance test results (before/after installation), date, instrument used, weather conditions, and sign-off. Auto-calculates required electrode quantity based on target resistance and measured soil resistivity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What software do I need to open this?

Microsoft Excel 2016 or later, Google Sheets, or LibreOffice Calc. Auto-calculations work in all three.

Can I modify this template for my company?

Yes. Add your company logo, additional measurement points, or site-specific fields. We only ask that you keep the ECalPro attribution.

Does this replace a full earthing design?

This is a data record and basic calculation template. For complex earthing grid designs, use specialist software and refer to IEEE 80 methodology.

What standard format does this follow?

Soil resistivity measurement per Wenner method (IEEE 81). Design per AS/NZS 3000, BS 7430, and IEEE 80. Test methods per relevant national standards.
