RCD Tripping Time Test Record (Excel)
Free download · Excel (.xlsx)
Record RCD tripping time test results with this Excel template. Captures circuit reference, RCD type (AC/A/B/F), rating, rated residual current IΔn, no-trip confirmation at ½ IΔn, trip times at 1× and 5× IΔn, maximum allowed trip time, pass/fail, optional ramp test trip current, test button function, instrument details, and tester information. Essential for BS 7671 Part 6 verification of additional protection by RCDs.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an RCD tripping time test record?
An RCD tripping time test record documents the measured trip times of residual current devices at standard test currents per BS 7671 and IEC 61008. It verifies that RCDs providing additional protection will disconnect within the required time to prevent electric shock.
What should an RCD test record include?
Key fields include circuit reference, RCD type (AC/A/B/F), rating, rated residual current IΔn in mA, no-trip confirmation at ½ IΔn, trip times at 1× IΔn and 5× IΔn, maximum allowed trip time, pass/fail, and optional ramp test trip current for determining actual trip sensitivity.
What are the maximum RCD trip times per BS 7671?
For a general type (30mA) RCD: at 1× IΔn the maximum trip time is 300ms, at 5× IΔn it is 40ms. The RCD must NOT trip at ½ IΔn. For Type S (time-delayed) RCDs: 1× IΔn max 500ms, 5× IΔn max 200ms. These limits are defined in BS EN 61008 and referenced by BS 7671.
